thx Gore. that clear things up now...so no glitch...but yup the restriction on 1 wep type is understandably a bummer to some.

about the "why/how would your own profession need to use another profession's wep". Simple, you give it to your heroes to use...maybe that's what they meant when they wanted all the destroyer weps customized to ones character. /speculation. (thats what I did/assumed when I first decided to go fill it)

I use 5 of the 11 destroyer weps myself. so no prob it. rest on heroes.

/but just like how they changed the minipets HoM, they could end up doing a revamp any day now..../surprise!!!. you never know...

youre right lykan, you dont even need to post.

On topic, it's been brought up many many times (hom is just bad) at the very least the weapons monument should have been account wide and weapons dedicated.

it doesnt hurt lore wise either, after all a couple of powerful weapons displayed in the monument changes...what?

I'm also with the OP. If I had the choice, my warrior would have 4-5 swords there (and none of that destroyer junk).

Sure, I'm going to blow 900k on weapons for my heroes.

They get bonus items, or hold onto whatever golds I have, hell I wouldn't even play through the BMP missions 10x however many heroes each of my toons have to give them the BMP weapons. I'd be crying with boredom, much like I was this time yesterday in the Desolation.

While I agree that the Destroyer weapons are horrible looking, I still think people need to understand that Anet had to find a way for us to display things that they were reasonably sure that we put work into getting. If they allowed us to display anything we wanted then Player A would load it up with cheap greens or BMP weapons while Player B loaded it up with things he/she has been collecting forever. Why should Player A get the same reward as Player B while B obviously deserves the better reward?

That being said, I do believe that the HoM should display OUR fave weapons but they should meet the Gold, Max req 9 variable in order to be displayed. Greens, BMP weapons AND Torment weapons shouldn't count at all. The only reason I would count out Torment weapons is because of the duping incident as we all know there are still duped armbraces in the game.

I believe the HoM is NOT trash at all. Maybe not what we were expecting but still its fine and it gives me actual goals to work toward while I play. Unlike before Nightfall when the only goal was to mass wealth and finish the games. Maybe get Obsidian Armor.

Think of it this way, maybe if you dedicate all weapon types, you'll get something for each class in GW2 instead of just 5 different swords.

This is another reason why HoM should be account-based!

Crafting 10 different ugly weapons is not a problem, but having to get them all for ONE character that will only ever use 3 or 4 of them is plain retarded.
It's the same with armors - having to get ALL of them for one character, even ones I really don't like and will never wear.

HoM doesn't need just small fixes, it needs a massive overhaul. In curren't form it's complete and utter trash.

If there was 1 HoM for the whole account a lot of different issues would disappear. All the weapons and armors needed to complete monuments could be spread among different characters that could actually use them. Old characters wouldn't be disadvantaged by not being able to get Legendary Survivor or LDoA. And the need to drop your old favorite pet in order to cap black moa and spider would be gone without inventing a pet stable. The system would be fair for everyone no matter if playing 1 or 10 characters.

Hello thread #63902.

Seriously though, you have heroes. And you don't have to put them in there - Nobody's forcing you.

@Yawgmoth: ...No? I don't want my wammo to step in the HoM and see my mesmer's armor, for example. Bad idea.

My ONLY RANT is that I can put my complete NF Primeval Armor in my HoM but not any of the 3 bows I use (2 greens and 1 modded gold), the only weapons you can put in your HoM are the GW:EN Destroyer weapons that are no better than the weapons I use (not to mention that the Destroyer weapons are ugly). I want to put the weapon I ACTUALLY USE in my HoM not what ANET says I can put, I put forth effort in getting the 3 weapons I use to the point of "Customizing" them so I wouldn't/couldn't sell them.

About Torment weapons,
Yes, the exploits hurt their value, but they're still much more expensive (and IMO, prettier) than the Destroyer weapons.
Much more "high-end" if you ask me, only a few skins are more expensive, at least for now.

If they dont count, what should?

What if you get squat for your GW2 char if your HoM weapon rack isn't filled?

In total agreement with those two quotes. Since HoM is currently character-based, I'm only spending time on one of my characters' hall even though I'd love to customize it for all my characters. I don't want to buy unnecessary melee weapons for my Ritualist just to give them to my heroes; I'd rather give them to my warrior character! Make them dedicated like the minipets, or else make the hall account-based.

So far I've not have any interest in HoM , just needed to go there, when "the eye is calling". from seeing the many complaints that have been voiced here. I am glad I did not yet display anything in HoM.

I have to mention this part because this is what the final result of HoM, you get to carry over your GW 1 legacy to GW2 because GW1 isn't the ultimate Guild Wars, GW 2 will be, hopefully, so, instead of everyone having the same stuffs, as of now, it is determind by the developers as to waht can be carried over/display in HoM, and consequent "carried over" to GW2, i think more choices would be better.

now my ideas:

1) a player may display anything they like in hall of monument. after all taste is very different from one person to another.

however placing stuffs in hall of monument will have different results to your GW 2 descendents.

Don't be lazy now, Arena Net, please make more choices. If I choose to display Collector's or Dock MAX armor, I can give that to my GW2 descendent. because, it is that MAX armor my character wore and fought and wearing that Dock armor my character have been loyal to GW as much as other player who choose to wear other armor.

to be fair to those who SPEND A LOT OF GOLD on VANITY stuff instead of practicality. i suggest

To differentiate the different type of legacy players carried forward to GW2 simply give them different "title" (in inverted commas because it might not be a title in GW2, Arena net has to come up with that)

and off course, you can go back to change your HoM display at a later stage, once you found, you dislike what your descendent get is not what you want, go back to GW1, acquire what you wanted and display it there.

2) as for rangers pets companions and mini pets and heros, i think players should be able to display all pets, mini pets and heros as they so wish. favouritism sucks :P~

They're called your heroes. Not like those weapons will go to waste. Besides, this could open up other opportunities; I know it got me (as a ranger) into using other secondaries for builds. Shadowlance, as a rit, could use this as an incentive to make the Spirit's Strength sword rit build that's bandied around on forums occasionally.

It's not like this is a hidden aspect of the HoM; it's been posted and talked about for months now. A single glance at the wiki should have told you that you couldn't put multiple staffs in there.

For people who haven't gotten it yet: they're not letting you put your particular weapons in the HoM, because they'd sooner only allow 11 skins and only have to make 11 trophy models (and put the code in to accept 11 different weapons) than the hundreds of skins there are currently in GW. I hope they eventually add "elite" skins to it, but then it becomes a question of what constitutes "elite", and then people get all pissy cause they can't add their own weapons to it but other people can...this way, while being slightly annoying, at least keeps things fair; one weapon skin per type, no one can object that their skin was left out while someone else is getting rewarded.

Valor completely and totally sucks ass, and they really need to get rid of that stupid "Animal Companion" monument in favor of one that shows what our pets really are...

Is there really any pressing reason to add anything to the HOM right now ?

I mean why not wait till GW2 is out before deciding, or even later.
I am thinking that there will be changes made to HOM between now and than so why not wait till the final build before deciding.

Then if we decide the whole thing is a waste of time we saved a load of aggrivation.

all i have to say is i better be rich from day 1 on gw2 for everything i've gotten.

11 destroyer weapons (ugly little bastards)
spider, rainbow pheonix, black moa
gwen, vizu, ghostly, koss, rurik
27 legendary titles
8 heroes added with upgraded armor
5 elite armor types added
all hm eotn dungeons clear, uw & fow clear

i'm expecting great things from anet on this for gw2. if not i'm not playing it because they led us on and that would be some hardcore horseshit.
